Summertime is in full swing here in the CSRA and we’re not about to rain on your parade! Whether you’re out spending time by the pool or bouncing around to travel ball games, we know you’re likely getting more than the normal amount of sun. So, how do you take care of your skin while still enjoying all the summer fun?
Here are our top tips for keeping your skin safe during summer fun:
1. SPF is your daily non-negotiable. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning and reapply every 2 hours, especially after swimming or sweating.
2. Don’t forget the easy-to-miss spots. Your ears, lips, scalp, hands, and feet need protection too!
3. Lighten up your routine. Swap heavy creams for lightweight, oil-free moisturizers and gel formulas that won’t clog pores.
4. Reapply the easy way. Keep a mineral powder SPF or spray in your bag for quick touch-ups on the go! Our favorite is the ISDIN mineral brush.
5. Hydrate inside and out. Drink plenty of water and use a hydrating mist or serum to keep skin balanced in the heat.
6. Protect with more than sunscreen. Wearing protective clothing such as wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, and UPF clothing adds an extra layer of defense.
7. Post-sun care matters. Soothe skin with aloe, gentle moisturizers, and avoid harsh actives if you’re feeling sensitive.
8. Be mindful of peak sun hours. Try to limit direct sun exposure between 10 AM and 4 PM when UV rays are strongest. Beach tents and umbrellas are your friends during summer vacation!
