Are you worried you may have sun-damaged skin? Going outdoors without sun protection or using a tanning bed exposes you to ultraviolet (UV) light that damages your skin. Over time, this damage builds up and you may see changes to your skin. These changes can include: wrinkles, age spots and loose skin.
Wrinkles
Wrinkles are the lines and creases that form in your skin. Some wrinkles can become deeper over time and may be more noticeable around your eyes, mouth and neck
There are a variety of ways to help treat fine lines and wrinkles. Many people find success by adding a product with retinol to their daily skin routine. (One of our favorites is Revision Skincare’s DEJ Face Cream.) For more serious creases or faster results we also offer cosmetic services such as Botox in-office.
Age spots
Age spots are flat brown, gray, or black spots on the skin. They are most common on sun-exposed areas, such as your hands and your face. These spots can appear singularly or clustered together.
Age spots can greatly diminish with the use of BBL (Broadband Light) treatment. This is a laser cosmetic procedure that works to target signs of aging and sun damage, restoring your skin to its natural beauty, making it clearer, smoother, and more vibrant.
Loose skin
Loose skin is a relaxed state of the skin that develops with age. It is the result of both intrinsic and extrinsic factors that contribute to loss of collagen and elastin in the skin.
While loose skin is natural and develops with age, laser treatments can help restore the elasticity in the skin. The HALO is the first in its class of fractional lasers and provides targeted, reproducible, and effective results that improve the appearance of skin conditions, such as wrinkles, discoloration, scars, and laxity.
Aside from the above products and procedures – skin protection is essential! The first step you can take to reduce further skin damage is wearing an appropriate broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with protection of at least 30 SPF. UV protection can also help prevent, slow down, and even reverse signs of sun damage. To be effective, you must use sun protection every day — even when it’s overcast or cold outside. A variety of options are available for purchase at the counter – talk to us to see which type is right for you and your skin!
