Shopping for an anti-aging skin care product can feel like a major test in patience. There are thousands of options out there, and it can be hard to know where to start and what product will work best on your skin’s unique makeup. Use these tips to help find the right product for you.
Start with Sunscreen and Moisturizer
The best thing you can do to protect your skin from aging is to apply sunscreen daily. The best type of sunscreen is the one you will actually use. While we recommend using a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, with broadband UV protection, the rest is up to you! If you hate the smell of sunscreen, find one that is unscented. If you want an oil-free option that can be applied under makeup, . For the woman who is minimal in the makeup department, you can even find some sunscreens that also act as tinted moisturizers. Some of our favorites include the Coola Mineral Face Sunscreen, and Revision Intellishade (which comes in matte, original, and truphysical mineral formulas). Next, moisturize! Using an anti-aging moisturizer daily helps minimize fine lines. It is perfectly fine to combine your sunscreen and moisturizer into one by using a moisturizer that also contains SPF.
Next, Treat Your Primary Concern
Whether it’s dark spots or crows feet, you’ll need to nail down just one area of concern to focus on first. No one product can treat all signs of aging, and using more than one at a time may irritate your skin, or even cause further damage that might make you look older.
Have Realistic Expectations
Signs of aging took years to form on your skin, and while we might wish we could turn back the clock, we haven’t invented a product that does that just yet!
