What made you interested in dermatology?
I began my career as a Physician Assistant in the hospital realm of caring for patient’s suffering from burns, wounds, life threatening skin infections and rashes. Skin has always been on the forefront of my physical exam and care plan as it is the largest organ of the human body. It is because of our skin’s huge undertaking in its many roles and duties to keep our bodies in balance and healthy that I continued into the specialty of Dermatology to help care for this fundamental organ system.
What is your number one recommendation for patients to protect their skin?
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen. Not just for the present you, but also to protect the future you. It is a vital part of self care.
What is one fun fact about you?
I was gifted with the joy of becoming a mother in January of 2020 to a baby boy. It has been the most rewarding time for me as I get to watch him continue to grow.
What is your favorite cosmetic product?
Still to be determined. I have been introduced to a whole new realm of products since joining Savannah River Dermatology. I have enjoyed trying new things in my skin care regimen. Not sure that I can pick a “favorite” just yet but one that I have incorporated into my daily routine is the Revision Brightening wash. It makes my face feel refreshed and renewed while also clean with a fresh scent!
What is your favorite over-the-counter product for skin?
I really like Neutrogena Hydroboost. I have a pretty oily complexion and find that it is hard to find a moisturizer that does not add to the constant shine. Compared to other moisturizers that I have used, this one absorbs into the skin without leaving behind that residue that can linger behind after application. Take it from me, even oily skin complexions need moisturizers!
